Smart Tech, New Faces, and a Quick Office Tour

Last year, our firm made a number of changes. We moved, increased the size of our team by nearly 40 percent and added some technological capabilities along the way. In this post, you’ll meet our new co-workers, see photos from our space and learn how our new tunable lighting and smart boards are benefiting clients.

Getting Smarter with New Tech

As we planned the design of our new space, we considered the products, materials, and layout of our work environment. But more importantly, we analyzed how it would function. To improve our efficiency and performance, we decided to implement two, new tools – tunable lighting and a Smart Board.

To foster seamless collaboration, we installed a new, Smart Board in our office. This dynamic tool allows us to push out designs to a digital whiteboard, anytime and from anywhere. It works across multiple systems and enhances internal collaboration. With it, viewers can mark-up drawings with the click of the mouse. This means that whether we’re on-site with a client or working from our desk, we can communicate changes instantaneously with one another, helping us to quickly deliver revised plans and pick-up changes comprehensively.

We also installed tunable lighting into our new, interiors room. We chose this solution, because it allows clients and our team to see exactly how interior design finishes respond to different lighting schemes. It definitively shows how appearances change based on light and helps us select items that best reflect our clients’ overall visions.

Meet Our New Co-Workers

Since we opened our doors 9 years ago, bcDESIGNGROUP has grown steadily. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to four new members of our team. Below, you’ll find short descriptions of each person.

Ashton McWhorter has joined our team as a project manager. She has 2.5 years of experience working in Dallas and Kansas City areas. A K-State Alum, she enjoys swimming, dog walking and rock climbing. She also enjoys being involved with the kid's ministry at her church where she gets to act like a kid for a few hours a week without judgement!

Jackie Dinkins has spent the last 17 years working in the Kansas City and St. Louis areas. A licensed architect, she will spend most of her time at the office serving our healthcare clients. When she’s off the clock, you can find her with her husband Mike or chasing after her three daughters. Jackie loves to relax with a piece of gooey butter cake and a good documentary. (We’re hoping she brings in a slice or two to share soon.)

Sheldon Roberts graduated from Kansas State University with a Masters in Architecture in 2018 and participated in the Kansas City Design Center. He is excited to work on more healthcare design projects, as his partner is currently in med school. Outside of the office, he is often exploring KC on his bike, sketching what he sees.

Originally from Fort Scott, KS, Meredith is a recent K-State grad. She holds a Masters of Interior Architecture and Product Design. In her free time, she loves to travel and immerse herself in different cultures and environments. You can also find her cheering on her alma mater with family friends. She has only missed five K-State games in her entire life!
