Flexibility, social gathering, and historical emphasis were a high priority at the Park Central Branch Library. We used design features to accomplish these goals.
The library is located in a building that was constructed in 1835. We preserved elements of this beautiful structure while incorporating new technology and finishes. Though the space is completely open, we designed lounge seating areas for space definition and different sizes of social gatherings. These lounge areas are inviting for small groups, people seeking quiet space and are also utilized for events that the library hosts. The movable, reconfigurable furniture provides flexibility for events, such as First Friday art walks, poetry readings, musical guests, and educational classes.
